Travel with
a bike
If this is all too much hassle please remember
that there are hire

Preparing the bike to Travel
Most Airlines require that the bikes pedals are removed,
tyres deflated and its handlebars twisted through 90 degrees.
Increasingly the Airlines have a few bike sized plastic bags
to protect the bags of other clients. Cardboard bike boxes
which are usually available, free of charge from any bike
shop. If you are unsure how to box it up, please contact us,
although most bike shop will do it for a small fee. The fabric
bike bags are very good although these do make good 'foundations'
in the hold! Some shops will rent the heavy duty plastic bike
boxes - note that these eat into your baggage allowance a
bit

As Baggage allowance information is changed so
regularly, please check the airlines directly. Please let
us know on booking if you want to hire a bike instead - in
which case, please specify your normal
frame size and height.

Be careful to keep the baggage tickets you were given
by the check-in agent.
