WHAT IS THIS HOLIDAY ALL ABOUT?
If you like the idea of our cross-country skiing
holidays, but would prefer to self cater or eat in a different
restaurant every night then this is the holiday for you. We have put
this week together to offer couples a bit more independence while
still enjoying the benefits of being on a group holiday.
This trip follows the same formula as the our
hotel based cross-country
skiing week. The notes on this page only
highlight the differences.
DATES
Sun 11 Jan - Sun 18 Jan 2009 (Trip code XFS I02)
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
This trip costs £475 on the basis of two people
sharing a double bed.
Please note that we offer a 5% discount if you book more than 3
months before the departure date. We also offer
group and loyalty discounts.
This price includes:
Airport transfers, 5 days transport to different ski regions, 5 days
piste access, 5 days guided skiing, 7 nights accommodation in a comfortable
self catering apartment, 1 evening meal, basic breakfast provisions
(for first morning), services of your guide.
NB: The price above is based on sharing a room. If you would like
your own apartment for the holiday there is a supplement of £200 - this
must be arranged on booking.
WHERE DO WE STAY
We stay in the comfortably restored 'Bergerie'
which was formally where the mountain sheep over wintered. The
downstairs is now a function room but the upstairs holds 8 spacious
self catering apartments. Each apartment has a surface area of 40m2
and has an open plan lounge / dinning room with a well equipped
kitchenette. There is a separate bedroom with a double bed and
ensuite bathroom. Note: Sheets and towels are provided and
there are no supplements for heating, but you are expected to leave
the apartment clean and tidy at the end of the week.

The Bergerie is in the village of Les Cabannes
(where James and Cathy live) at the foot of the Plateau de Beille.
The village has 2 general stores, 2 restaurants, a takeaway
pizzeria, a newsagent, a bakery, a Spanish theme pub (Le Mioure), a
typical French bar - everything we could need for a week. However if
you would prefer more choice of restaurants there is a very good
train link to the Spa town of Ax les Thermes.
FOOD
As we arrive after the shops close on the Sunday, we
provide you with a few basics for your first mornings breakfast
(tea, coffee, milk, muesli and some homemade jam). We will also take
dinner on the first night together as a group in the one of the
restaurants in town (included in the cost). No other food is
included so you can self cater or enjoy one of the restaurants in
town.
TRANSPORT
All transport is the same as for our hotel based
week although Les Cabannes is closer to the Plateau de Beille (20
mins) and 40 mins to Chioula.
