Tour de France 2007 - join us for our special Road or MTB holiday.

The Tour de France route has not yet been announced, however rumors have it that there will be 4 epic stages in the Pyrenees, one ending with my local climb, the 1250m ascent of the Plateau de Beille. This year we will be running two special itineraries, put together to make the most of the ‘Tour’ wherever they may go. In addition to my very popular MTB trip this year there will be a road biking special.  Both will have limited places, so if you are interested in either, please get in touch and I will offer you first refusal when the final route / cost is announced. For the Road biking trip, I intend to offer an itinerary where we ride two stages (over 2 days each) and take in a stage start, a stage end and a mountain climb – What a week!!!!

2007 summer holiday dates are now online.

Just in case there is at least one of you out there who can plan their holiday more than 1 month before – I have posted all the trip dates for next summer on my website. See my holiday calendar for more info.

Winter holiday trip dates are already becoming limited.

The French Pyrenees in winter are stunning and our local climate is unique in that we have very reliable snow and an amazing 80% of days with sunshine. If you haven’t yet tried it,  - Snowshoeing is no harder than summer walking.  Cross-country skiing is the perfect all over body work out – but you don’t have to be super fit to do it. Both activities take you to amazing and tranquil places. Throw in a ‘like minded’ bunch of people and you have the perfect escape from the often monotonous drizzle of the UK. Make sure you book soon!

Snowshoeing in the Pyrenees – larking about in the snow.

Cross-country skiing in the Pyrenees – Suitable for beginners and improvers.

Nordic highlights of the Pyrenees – for people who want to cover some distance.

Note that dogsledding is available as an option on all winter holidays

The spring flowers of the Pyrenees – Not just for botanists.

This year we have teamed up with Waymark Holidays to run a very special, gentle walking trip, showing off the best of our spring season. One day of the trip we are joined by a local flower and butterfly expert and on the other days we will do a selection of walks taking us to areas of differing altitude and geology – therefore seeing a huge variety of species. We will also have the opportunity of visiting an amazing ‘birds of prey’ in flight demonstration and the Chateau of Montsegur – the last bastion of the Cathars. Atlantic to the Mediterranean – one of life’s great journeys!

More and more people are enjoying this excellent cycling tour. Every day is different as we pass from the Atlantic coast through the vast forest of Landes, the wine growing area of Armagnac, the agricultural land of Beaumont, the cosmopolitan city of Toulouse, the tree lined Canal du Midi, the medieval fortress of Carcassonne and finally the golden sands of the Mediterranean. The riding is not too strenuous and the trip is suitable for anyone who likes riding a bike and wants the challenge of significant distance over 10 days (approx 330miles). There are two trips being run in 2007 (May and September). More info on http://www.marmot-tours.co.uk/summaries/rfc.htm

Finally, a big welcome to Cathy.

Although some of you have already met Cathy, I thought that it was time for a more formal introduction. Cathy moved out the Pyrenees to live with me a year ago, and has already been a great asset to the company. For 2007 Cathy will be assisting with all the cross-country skiing trips, so we will now be able to offer ski tours at two different levels each day. She will also be running the Spring Flowers and Atlantic to the Mediterranean trips. If that is not enough, Cathy is playing a large role in the development of Marmot Tours with an ongoing marketing campaign.
