Record snowfall in the Ax valley.

It started snowing mid November and it hasn't stopped since. The Downhill ski resort in Ax was the first to open in France and has had copious amounts of fresh powder all season. Up at the cross-country ski station a Shepherd's hut has totally disappeared apart from its chimney! There is currently two meters of compacted snow under ski over most of the resort - so it is looking like I will be skiing well into June.

Summer Peak bagging trips - book now before the price goes up.

Exodus and Waymark Travels have both expressed an interest in including my Peak bagging trips in their 2006 Brochures. This is excellent news for me as is will guarantee full trips throughout July, August and September. Both the center and Refuge based itineraries are excellent and it will be a great way for me to spend the summer months.
Unfortunately it does mean that I will be unable to sell these trips privately next year and the cost will therefore go up substantially in order to cover the commissions etc. So, if you like high level trekking taking in peaks and ridges, then please book this year. I still have availability on all trips in August and flights are still fairly reasonable. More info can be found on http://www.marmot-tours.co.uk/summaries/walking.htm

The Ariegeoise Road cycling Event - Now supported by Internet Magazine RCUK
This year I decided to promote the Ariegeoise Cyclosportive event to people in the UK. The event is meant as a fun day out on the bike, taking in some of the amazing scenery around my base in the Pyrenees. I am delighted to have been approached by the Internet based magazine - 'Road Cycling UK', who are helping me promote my trip. RCUK is an excellent resource offering news, features, reviews and forums about anything to do with road cycling. Please have a look at their website www.roadcyclinguk.com. More info on my trip can be found on http://www.marmot-tours.co.uk/summaries/rfa.htm.

Better than Norway for Cross-country skiing?
My cross-country skiing week has been extremely well received this year. The trip is being sold in conjunction with Exodus and I have had over 40 happy skiers. The groups have been a mix ranging from total beginners to people with a lot of experience. The flexibility of the holiday has meant that everyone has had a great time and has got out of it what they wanted. I have been particular happy with the comments from the experienced skiers, who have been surprised by the excellent snow conditions and the expanse of the ski areas. Combining this with the added joy of the longer days and ability to ski in a t-shirt (okay - not all the time), the skiing here was considered better than Norway! May Day bank holiday weekend - get on your bike.
There are still a few places left on my 'Long weekend of Single Track Descents' trip over the May bank holiday. This trip is suitable for anyone who has had a taste of single track and wants more. With over 6000m of downhill over the 2.5 days it has to be the ultimate MTB mini-break. More info on http://www.marmot-tours.co.uk/summaries/mfw.htm

New hire bike fleet.

I have just splashed out on a load of shiny new Specialized Rockhopper bikes. So anyone hiring in 2005 is guaranteed a good ride. I have even given into demand and bought a few with front and rear disc brakes. More info on http://www.marmot-tours.co.uk/bikes/index.htm

That is about it for the moment. Let me know if you have any questions by emailing me on www.marmot-tours.co.uk

All the best.
