OUR ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY
Marmot Tours Ltd is committed to the implementation of
proactive measures to help protect and sustain the local, national and global
environment for future generations. We aim to achieve the objective
of environmental performance through pollution prevention, staff and client
awareness of the issues and respect for the countryside we explore during our
holidays.
1. Marmot Tours Ltd strives for continual reflection on and
improvement of our environmental management system
2. Responsibility for our environmental policies lies with all
members of staff, and is overseen by the Director (James Thompson). All staff
are expected to work in a manner compatible with this policy.
3. Marmot Tours Ltd will ensure that staff receive appropriate
training and resources to ensure that this policy can be effectively
implemented.
4. We will comply with both the environmental laws and
regulations in our country of practice (France), and our country of registration
(UK). We will take a proactive approach to the implications of future
legal requirements.
5. Marmot Tours Ltd will take steps to minimise any
detrimental impacts on the environment caused by its operations, including
reduction of air emissions, waste generation and direct negative impacts on the
countryside (litter/not closing gates etc).
6. Our environmental performance will be evaluated annually
and our targets reviewed in this light. We will invite comments from our
clients on our environmental status.
7. Marmot Tours Ltd will assess the environmental impact of
any new trip itineraries
8. Marmot Tours Ltd will undertake to offset unavoidable
carbon emissions through the support of sustainable environmental projects.
9. Marmot Tours seeks to conserve natural resources by
ensuring the responsible use of energy, water and materials, by the continual
implementation of the 3Rs: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle).
10. Marmot Tours will actively encourage 'green travel' by its
clients as an alternative to flying through website information, and discussion
where appropriate
11. When selecting suppliers, Marmot Tours will proactively
include environmental considerations in the decision making process of which
supplier to use.
12. Marmot Tours maintains an open and cooperative attitude to
environmental issues which will demonstrate its aim to be an environmentally
responsible organisation.
