Despite
its relatively small size, Ax
Bonascre is a very decent ski resort with something
for everyone. It is particularly good for beginners as the
green (easy) slopes at the Plateau de Saquet are set aside
from the main pistes, so you don’t get cut up by fast skiers
and boarders all the time. For the more experienced skiers
amongst you, there is a good range of blues, reds and blacks,
plus some fantastic off piste opportunities in the 'snow
bowls' in between the pistes.
The
busiest season for downhill skiing is in February.
January and March are outside of the French school holidays,
so the slopes are traditionally fairly quiet.
