Thanks must go to Alan and Tez for their uncanny ability to turn up with a van (laden with clothing, food and water) 'as if by magic’.
The accommodation was clean and adequate (some were more characterful than others). Meals were excellent .Ian Wright June 2013
The trip was brilliant, really enjoyed every aspect and thought the organisation was first class. A few of us northerners would have liked a brew on some of the van stops, but thats about the only thing we could think of in terms of improvement to the support! R. Cross June 2013
Just a quick "thank you" for an excellent Raid Pyrenean. Alan and Tez were fantastic too and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marmot or travel with you again.
I blogged each day on the trip and wrote a longer piece on return which went live today. http://bit.ly/15iT68D S. Willis June 2013
Just a quick note of thanks….I had a great time on last weeks Raid! Superb organisation, great team leaders who were very supportive and not phased by our constant requests for info or help. C. Hogan (Aus) June 2013
I had a wonderful time (apart from climbing the Tourmalet (except the last 4km which was lovely)) and much of that was down to the excellent support provided by Alan and Terry. Even when they were stretched taking a member of the group to hospital and when the route had to be changed they were there when you needed them, providing food, water, support and good humour. L Cuppleditch June 2013
I have to say what a wonderful job Alan and Tim did for us, really judging the mood and needs of the group well. Your guys really exceeded our expectations! The packing guides proved absolutely spot on for what was needed in what turned out to be some testing conditions. I'll let the dust settle on this trip for a couple of weeks then canvass the mood for another Raid…Its been an absolute pleasure working with you guys. John Lewis Venture Club June 2013
Just want to say a huge thank you to Alan and Tim. I had a amazing time. The level of support that the guys gave was magnificent. The daily briefings and advice, the luggage transfers, the snacks in the van and mechanical help were just a few of the things that went in to making it such a great adventure. I really couldn't have done it without them. ?The whole trip ran very smoothly and all we had to worry about was riding our bikes. The hotels were really friendly and welcoming. The food was spot on. ?Thanks again to you and your team. I wouldn't hesitate in recommending Marmot tours to anyone else crazy enough to ride the Raid. I Downey, June 2013
Thank you for the fantastic experience of last week. I have never been so thoroughly challenged physically and mentally before, and it was an incredible adventure. Alan and Tim were superb in their support, and were always in the right place at the right time to give out food, clothes and encouragement. A Flack June 2013
I would not hesitate in recommending Marmot to other riders from my part of the world who might be thinking of doing the
ride. I only hope I can get back here within the next year or two to follow up with the Raid Alpine. Alf Hoop (Aus) June 2013
The exhilaration and enjoyment from our week in the Pyrenees was brought home this weekend when watching the Tour – it was awesome watching those guys going over the Pailheres, the Peyresourde knowing that we had conquered those same cols only the week before.
The Raid is a trip I will remember for a long time – and you guys made it very special. Always in the right place at the right time, always encouraging, and added the fun we all needed. The Tourmalet in the cloud is my overriding memory. Thank you so much – it was a fantastic trip. S Boote June 2013
We were blessed by good weather, but also by Gary and Nathan’s always helpful and optimistic attitude, no whiners or complainers in our group and the most extraordinary landscapes I have ever seen in France. Your organization does a great job and I would happily serve as a reference in the future. T McHenry (US) July 2013
Really enjoyed the trip Nathan and Gary were outstanding both really worked hard (long days for them and us), were highly competent and fun. Top chaps. Nathan has masterful people and leadership skills. A credit to your business. Will recommend Marmot highly to others and hope to be back for another challenge in the future when I get my next 'pass' from the wife and kids :).
Best to you and James you should be really proud of what you've achieved with your growing business. J Gaugas July 2013
I signed up for the trip below, took it, and Marmot Tours created a problem for me. How can I go on a tour with a company other than Marmot and be satisfied and not think of your company. From the reading of your website to the first communication I had with you via email, through the trip , and now beyond with follow- up info regarding the trip, the attention to detail on paper and in practice is fantastic. P Blumenfeld July 2013
I also can't say enough in praise of both Terry and Alan as support crew whose efforts went well beyond expectations in making the ride a thoroughly marvellous experience. The professionalism of your organisation was evident in all aspects including van support, snacks, map notes, gps support, quality of hotels, etc.
Many of us have undertaken trips of this nature before (several times in some cases) and all would agree that you guys have been exceptional........ for organizing us all, the transfers, the choice of hotels and catering, the vehicle support and mechanical assistance, the attention to detail etc etc, all added up to a great package from start to finish. I'd like to say something in particular about Kevin and Nathan. They were nothing short of first class hosts. They really did make the trip a huge success, they added to the experience they really did. Always there when we needed them, nothing was ever too much. Thanks fellas, we had a blast! L Smith Aug 2013
Just wanted to say thanks again for the tour. As far as feedback, I have nothing but positive things to say. Everything worked out really well, including the extra pick-up in Toulouse, bike rental, support along the way during the raid, quality of the guides, etc. Tez and Graham were both fantastic. In the end, I think the value of the tour is fantastic. I've looked around at a lot of tours, and I don't think any tour comes even close to the value you deliver. I definitely plan to be back again and do another tour, and hopefully bring some other Canadians over! Its always a bit more complicated coming from oversees, so I really appreciated all the extra work you did in getting my set up! Ryan Lutz Aug 2013
It was the toughest thing I have done yet but I also enjoyed it. While the good weather and the attitudes of everyone in the group had a lot to do with the good experience, I can't compliment Terry and Paul enough. They made sure everyone got the support that they needed when they needed it and showed a lot of patience and understanding, especially for those of us at the back of the group. I'll definitely be spreading the word about both the event and Marmot Tours. A Gosland Aug 2013
I wanted to let you know what a fantastic time I had last week on the Raid. I think I mentioned I have wanted to do this trip for a long, long time and am so glad I got to realise this ambition. The organisation from the Marmot team was fantastic, from the first contact I had with you back in January to being dropped off bang on check-in time at Toulouse airport...extremely pleased! Terry and Paul were exceptional guides/hosts/support/etc; they worked really hard for all of us. Great to have had such excellent and good-humoured back up, without ever feeling pressured, molly-coddled or patronised. The hotels were just right for the trip...comfortable enough for our needs and loads of great food. regard you as having something wrong with you! The briefings and route notes provided were a great touch and really useful; the last thing I wanted to do was get lost! Some of the scenery was totally spectacular. I’ve been to some nice places in my time but nowhere has been more beautiful then this. J Burke Aug 2013
All in all it was a fantastic trip - faultless organisation and support, great routes (although not enough time or energy to appreciate the magnificent views, stunning flowers, and attractive villages), tremendous camaraderie, and great sense of achievement. And two of the nicest guys you could imagine to help you get through it (or have I developed stockholm syndrome?). Was it a holiday or an ordeal? I think a bit of both which made it all the more fun and memorable. Sure you need to be very fit with strong knees, but it is amazing what middle age man like me can do with some grit and determination. C Bridges Webb (Sept 2013)
Hi Cathy & James - thank you for what was a fantastic week last week, an experience I will never forget (especially the Tourmalet…). The whole thing was fantastically organised and I'm sure you know this already but Kevin and Eric were just SUPERB throughout the whole week, they worked so hard to make sure we had the best time possible. THANK YOU BOTH!! W Durstan Sept 2013
Many thanks to you, James, your office staff, and an even bigger thank you to Tez and Graham for a truly wonderful week. M Cameron Sept 2013
Everything was so well organised that it was simply a case of putting a leg over the top tube every morning without having to worry about anything but the next “tampon” stop. Tez and Graham were absolutely fantastic. From putting our bags in the rooms before we arrived to having slices of cake ready at the top of climbs, they thought of everything. They always had words of encouragement and I was astonished how they were in a good mood from 7am to 11pm. I really appreciate all the hard work they put in during the course of the week.
Once my body recovers, I might think about the Raid Dolomites. A Scully Sept 2013
Thank you all ever so much for a fantastic trip which was fantastically well organised by both Kevin & Eric [both a great credit to you company] we all had an amazing time which I'm sure we will talk about for years to come [ever more exaggerating the actual achievement]. S Maxwell Sept 2013
I think it will take a while for the trip as a whole to come into true perspective but I would like to thank you for providing the opportunity to do the trip. I'm sure that I can only appreciate half of the work actually required to organise the event but really I could not fault any aspect of the trip. Kevin and Alan were always there with van when we needed them and had a real feel for our needs and what we were experiencing (good and bad!). The weather was less than perfect but it was not really a problem and in some ways added to the experience of the trip. As you said in your email it is not an easy journey to make particularly, if like me, you had not cycled mountains before, but Kevin and Alan were always so positive and confident that you never had any doubt that you would make it- eventually! My thanks to you and your team for a truly memorable and amazing journey. I Smith Sept 2012
The trip was thoroughly enjoyable, as predicted by other mates who have done the same thing with Marmot Tours. Alan and Kevin were stars, standing out in the pouring rain and howling gale at the top of [insert most Cols] to cheer us in was above and beyond the call of duty! Hotels were perfectly satisfactory and lots of carbs. The vans stocked with goodies is a masterstroke - nothing like knowing there's a handful of Caramelised nuts (or whatever is your favourite) at the top of the climb. The local knowledge and bits of history made it all the more interesting. Alan and Kevin read the abilities and attitudes of the group well, and struck a great balance between giving advice whilst letting people feel they were making their own decisions. I would thoroughly recommend Marmot for this trip, and hope to see you again in the future. R.Smith Sept 2012
Just a short note to say thank you for organising an excellent holiday adventure. Despite our occasional suffering at the slopes of the Tourmalet and one or 18 other cols we had a great time. The organisation was excellent and the experience once in a lifetime. I would also like to congratulate you on the choice of our guides/ supporters/ counsellors; Mel and Tez who were superb and a credit to Marmot. Many thanks J. Sheffield Sept 2012
It was a great trip , all had a great time. I thought Tez was perfect. he is blessed to have the perfect personality for that job. Complimentary , never competitive , information was always given in timely concise manner. and he was great to talk to ... Nice guy. Mel made for the perfect mate for tez and was so nice as well... plus a very good driver .... S Castley Sept 2012
What can I say...The attention from Mel & Tez was awesome, They were so on the ball and took care of (and an interest) in everyone. The info provided was exactly right, it was aimed at people with brains while it still conveying the need to "do it by numbers". The whole day bag/kit for getting off mountains worked well for me.I'm still trying to get my head around the route. It was beautiful and intimidating in almost equal numbers (beauty wins). As a veggie, I had the best selection of meals ever in France and that seems to be down to the relationship you have with the hotels as they all offered good service as well. By sheer fluke, the crowd was brilliant, -surely you can't get every ride where people get on well...Thanks for making it possible for me to complete a very difficult challenge. M.Nee Sept 2012
Just to say that Chris and I had a fantastic time and feel we couldn't have had any better support than Marmot gave. Tez and Mel were fantastic - really professional, supportive and fun. They also managed to keep us going when we were fighting daylight but without pressurising us - no mean feat given we occasionally ascended at a pace just above a trackstand. K Lawson Sept 2012
I’m now back at work and day dreaming of days in the mountains. Just wanted to add my thanks to Tez, Mel and Sandy for their fantastic support throughout the Raid, it was hugely appreciated. Don’t think I would have made it down the Col du Port without freezing to death if it hadn’t been for the stock of extra clothing and the mountain of peanuts to eat. Also thanks to everyone else on the Raid who made it such a great experience. R Dartnell Sept 2012
The organisation was fantastic, Mel and Tez went way beyond what I expected and hoped for - they were, to use an expression from my adopted homeland, AWESOME!!
Going out for a ride in the hills without one of them in a van waiting for us at the top with food, drink and encouragement is going to be horrible. P.Wray Sept 2012
Just a quick note to say that despite the aches and pains the trip was absolutely first class and in my opinion offers great value for money. Mel and Tez were great ambassadors for Marmot Tours, nothing was ever too much trouble and they ran an incredibly slick operation pre-empting our every want and need. I'd have no hesitation in recommending you guys to any one else considering doing the Raid Pyrenean and will definitely be back in contact in the near future to do some XC Skiing or potentially some more road cycling in the alps. M Howarth, Aug 2012
Many thanks to you, Tez, Mel & Sandy for a fantastic trip. I honestly can't think of anything I could suggest to improve it. We couldn't have had a more friendly, helpful, hard working and organised group of people running the trip. I loved it and am already looking forward to my next Marmot Raid. T Lenehan, Aug 2012
Never had such a well organised trip and such friendly assistance. I struggled cycling into work this morning without my Tezzy Briefing and a van stop halfway for M&M's. S.Meffan-Main Aug 2012
Just a quick note to register my thanks to Nathan and Ranieri for their help and support on the recent radio ( Tuesday July 3d) Good humoured, knowledgeable, and most of all…… patient! - even when we didn’t listen. Highly recommended and a great experience for a bunch of Old Farts!N Wainwright, July 2012
As for the Guides, Mel and Terry. They were fantastic. I cannot imagine the issues arising as people spread out along the roads. I was among the slowest, and some of the fastest came in to the hotels some 2 hours before I did, on some days. Yet, you all managed to keep track of each of us. In fact, seemed to know where to find lost riders in each nook and cranny! The Garmin files were wonderful, but I felt so much better seeing one of our vans pass me. I then would know I was on the right road. Thanks. This was much harder than I thought this would be. This was more emotional than I thought this would be. I can say this now, I’d do this again. I’ll be back. Save me a spot for RAID Alpine in 2013, and RAID Dolomiti in 2014. B.Bors June 2012
Many thanks - it was fantastic! The route was brilliant, the organisation was superb and the hotels were a wonderful eclectic mix. Nathan and Rani were great; they provided excellent, laid-back support, admirably indulged our faffing, were always available yet treated everyone like adults and it never felt regimented. Very tempted to go on another Marmot Tour and wondered if you had any availability for the Raid Corsica in 2013? R Wood, June 2012
thanks for being so calm and understanding about my slow and late involvement in the raid. i'm very glad i got it together and went through with it, we were lucky with the weather and it was a great week. I know it has been said but Tez and Mel are a real credit to you, at no time did it feel like we/ i were getting in the way of what they'd rather be doing. they were both exceptional and natural team hosts. S Granger, June 2012
Just to say how much I enjoyed the Raid Pyrenean trip. Apart from the fantastic roads and weather, the organisation was great and the support from Mel and Tez was first rate. They were friendly and enthusiastic, hard working and always on hand to help in any way they could. I'd not hesitate to recommend Marmot Tours to friends, and am even already looking at the Raid Corsica for next year! D Breen, June 2012
Thanks for a really amazing holiday, it was hard going in parts but really good fun, well organised and with really superb support from Terry and Mel. The camaraderie and banter on route was also second to none, really missing those beans! R Fryer, June 2012
What a fantastic week you organised for us on the RP. I can safely say I enjoyed every minute of the trip and that Mel and Tez provided excellent support throughout. We had a fantastic group of Raiders and the two of you worked really hard on our behalf. I would rather cycle the route any day than handle the logistics and long days as expertly and as cheerily as you did. The route was fantastic - my personal favourite was the Paiheres, a real thrill to emerge from the mist at the top (delusions of Stephen Roche at La Plagne in 1987?..), followed by the Aubisque, Tourmalet, Aspin and Peyresourde. In fact every day was excellent, especially not the gradual changes in the landscape, architecture etc as we went East. D Thomson, June 2012
Just recovered....well almost. I can say it was an awesome trip. Very tough test of one self, but a great achievement. The group was great and Tez and Mel kept us going and believed we would do it even if we felt it was becoming impossible. Great set up with the vans, drink, food, bike mechanical's. I would defo recommend to a friend. P Levy, June 2012
Just to let you know I had a fantastic time on my recent Raid Pyrenean with you guys. From my perspective everything was perfect; all the support I needed (a real luxury having a van full of kit & food at the top of every col) but with the freedom to ride as fast (or as slowly) as I wanted. Rani was a star, a great guy to have around. I Marmot Tours did a great job & I will certainly recommend you to anyone who fancies a crack at the Raid. K Izzard, June 2012
Thank you all for a great Raid holiday. The background organisation and planning was superb and clearly reflected the time that you’ve been “raiding” in France. I especially appreciated the great service (bags in rooms) and friendly support throughout the 450 miles on the road. This was certainly my best cycle tour holiday and from what I know betters anything that any friends have done. Adrian Turner, Sept 2011
The trip from start to finish was extremely well organised and our guides (Merv and Nathan) made sure we had absolutely everything we needed, before, during and after the days cycling. Marmot work extremely hard to ensure everything is covered (even seem to have a direct line to weather gods) and it was very comforting to know that we would see one of the two vans accompanying us on the RAID at least 5 or 6 times per day. The whole trip from transport, food, hotels and the information we were given each day were first rate. Martin Blenkinsop Sept 2011
The trip really was fantastic, made all the better by Nathan and Merv for whom nothing was too much trouble. They both worked tirelessly and their knowledge, guidance and cheerful encouragement was brilliant. And this despite being at the "tail end" of the season. Nathan particularly was very organised yet flexible to everyone's very different needs. My very best experiences on a road bike (Col d'Aspin and Col d'Aubisque were my highlights, up & down!) - thank you. I have been raving to colleagues who were unable to come! Hope I'll be back for more on one of your other trips. Matthew Williams Sept 2011
I thoroughly enjoyed the Raid although it was a very tough challenge (even though Merv kept calling it a holiday. Trades descriptions people have been informed!). From the moment the trip had been paid for right up until the day we returned to England there was no cause for concern on any of the itinerary or organisation and the communication in the run-up to the trip was very good. Nathan and Merv are truly a credit to your organisation with their constant humour and encouragement throughout the Raid, and their insight into every aspect of the trip was invaluable. Never before have I been so relieved to see a Transit van than on the Paliheres! I wouldn't change a single thing about my experience of the Raid with Marmot (other than perhaps 28 degree heat on the Tourmalet!) and wouldn't hesitate to book another trip through you. Barney Jafkins Sept 2011
Thankyou for your help and especially thanks to James and Alan. We had a great time. No need to write too much - suffice to say, I COULD NOT FAULT A SINGLE ASPECT OF THE HOLIDAY! Jonty Lomax Sept 2011
The camaraderie of the group was wonderful and I must emphasize to you what marvellous support we had from Merv and Nathan. They did everything possible to make everything go smoothly and I am particularly grateful for their patience in the way they waited for me and others until quite late. Their good humoured professionalism was outstanding. Noel Kavannagh, June 2011
Special thanks must go to Nathan and Merv for sharing their vast experience of the area and leaving us in no doubt as to what we were about to face on a day to day basis. Andrew Wooler, June 2011
I would say that I thought the Tour was very well organised and how fantastic Merv and Nathan were. Their energy and help was boundless and nothing was too much trouble. For people struggling at the back like myself, we kenw thaqt help and care was always near and if it wasn't for those two, some of us would not have been successful at completing the Raid. John Duncombe June 2011
Just wanted to say another quick thank you for the professional job you both did with the daily organisation etc (from the excellent on the road support to the fact you you never showed any irritation at having to repeat simple sets of instructions multiple times before we got it) which laid the foundation to make it a fantastic trip. All much appreciated. Russell Fenwick, June 2011
I would like to Thank James and yourself (don't forget Alan) for such a wonderful trip, our group is still raving and reminiscing about each day, we are already talking about the Raid Alpine in the next couple of years (probably 2013, due to family commitments). Stephen McPhie June 2011
I am writing to let you know how much I enjoyed the Pyrenean Raid. It was probably one of the most enjoyable weeks I have ever had. They were an excellent mix of people that I was on the ride with and Nathan and Helen done a superb job of looking after and organising us. Please can you give Nathan and Helen a special thank you from me. I am already looking at doing another ride with your company in the future. Paul Townsend June 2011
James, Alan and Helen: It is fair to say that I don’t think we could have achieved any of this without your support. It is both a physical and mental challenge with enormous highs and lows but the one constant that got us through was the 3 of you. Having the support van there at the right time, in the right place, with the unending supply of bananas, cakes, cereal bars and “salty” nuts together with your encouragement and good humour was fantastic. Couple this with knowing you were just around the corner with spare parts and changes of clothes was a real life saver. In addition, from a personal point of view, arriving back at the hotel late in the evening to have my bicycle taken off me (even though it wasn’t a hire bike) and checked was a real added bonus. Thank you so much for everything. Tim Maynard, June 2011
I wanted to drop you a line simply to say thanks for a great trip. The one piece of the jigsaw you couldn’t control was testing, namely the weather, but other than that it was a fine trip with great logistical support, perfectly selected hotels for the occasion (which added to the trip) and good company. Simon Pattinson June 2011
Many thanks for organizing such a brilliant week for us all. Your organization and support simply left nothing to be desired. Sounds a bit over the top but when you ask for comments on areas that you can improve, I just can't think of any. Andy Llewellyn, Sept 2010
The modus operandi of using 2 vans is unbeatable. It gives a cast iron assurance about support during each day. It is comforting to know that we don't have to worry about the slower riders behind ourselves and can confidently go at our own pace. James, you and Tez made it a holiday, not just a physical challenge - all the small good things were valued: the chats, the photos, the snacks, the encouragement, the recommendations about events and places en route. Cathy - thankyou for the wonderful food baked with your own fair hand. Banana with chocolate, with walnuts, chocolate brownies, fruit cake etc. Delicious, timely, scrummy, so welcome - so much a part of the holiday. Did I mention the word timely? Yes, timely, life saving - better than a defibrillator. Au prochain! Mike Flannagan, Sept 2010
Chapeau to you all and the organisation for a fantastic trip, superb support and logistics. Russ van der Wert, Sept 2010
James' briefings each evening were excellent and amusing, the support throughout the trip was first class despite the group getting well spread out. Tez was always supportive and encouraging, the cakes and other support food was so good that I have brought back nearly all the gels and bars I took out! The evening food was perfect after a hard days cycling - to the extent that I have not lost any weight despite using 27,000 calories on the trip. I will definitely be back for another Marmot trip - with the recommendations our group will be giving you will have to find a way of laying on more trips! Mike Ferguson, Sept 2010
Many thanks to James and Tez for a fantastic week of cycling - your support, attention to detail and good humour made the trip an absolute joy. Liam Brady, Sept 2010
A big big thankyou for a wonderful trip - I had a fantastic time despite the pain involved! The running of the trip was superb and Tez did a tireless job keeping us supplied with food, clothes and motivation! James, your nightly briefings were a highlight of the trip for us all - we will miss the entertainment of those overviews! Ben Williams, Sept 2010
I had some of my best moments on a bike during the ride, particularly the descent of the Tourmalet and the ascent of the Col de Port, which we ascended through the mist on a beautiful, still morning to reach views of snow topped Pyrenean peaks with hardly a car or soul in sight. Absolutely wonderful! Stuart Kinsey, Sept 2010
Thanks to yourself and the guys for a great trip - The organisation and support were first rate with Alan, Tez and Nathan a credit to Marmot, with the vans always seeming to appear at just the right moment - their level of support was fantastic. The only thing that remains is to decide which trip to do next year... Paul Wire, Sept 2010
Just wanted to convey my thanks for the excellent support and hard work by Nathan, Alan and Tez during the trip. They really are an asset to your business. James Williams, Sept 2010
Awesome, no other word for it! Organisation, location, staffing, absolutely fantastic. Thankyou so much for a fantastic event and great memories. Really enjoyed the company of Tez, Alan and especially Nathan. Ewan Jeans, Sept 2010
Just wanted to say a tremendous thankyou to everyone involved in making our RP trip such a great one, particularly Alan, Nathan and Tez, but also all the hard backroom work that must have gone into it too.. Guy Buckland, Sept 2010
Thankyou for an awesome week. Nathan and Cathy you both made the trip fantastic - hope to see you on another one soon. John Parkin, June 2010
I just wanted to reiterate what I said last week about our trip: it was superbly organised and run. Your attention to detail was excellent. Thank you. I would certainly recommend Marmot to others
Graham Hazell, Raid Pyrenean, June 2010
I'd just like to mention that both Nathan and Terry were top boys.....supported and looked after us all really well. Thanks v much
Gary Hickman, June 2010
Thank you so much for a wonderful week and for going beyond the call of duty (especially with my shirts Cathy). I was unbelievable impressed with Marmot Tours and more importantly with you guys. We would all like to look at the Alps trip and would love to do it with you, if we can.
Martin Bellamy, Raid Pyrenean, June 2010
I really enjoyed it and a huge part of that was having you and Nathan as part of the team. Amazingly not feeling too tired this week although feel EXTREMELY hungry and not having banana & walnut loaf on tap has obviously been a huge disappointment.
Amy Dale, Raid Pyrenean June 2010
Many thanks to all of you at Marmot Tours for a great week. The attention to detail, organisation, and general good cheer from 6 in the morning to 10 at night was exceptional. Lots of nice touches like your home made cakes ( can I have the recipe for the chocolate brownies please? ) and bags in the rooms in the evening. Would definitely like to do something with Marmot Tours again and would have no hesitation in recommending yourselves to fellow cyclists.
Nigel Scott, Raid Pyrenean, June 2010
Thanks for such a great week on the raid. Your attention to detail was fantastic and I really cannot think of any area in which you were lacking. It was particularly nice, as the lanterne rouge, to get support all the way to the finish each day and I was lucky to have Nathan's support throughout, when at times I felt like jacking it in. Thanks also to Tez for stopping me falling over at the end of a couple of days when I was too knackered to unclip! The good news is that I'm feeling really good and strong up these Dorset hills and even thinking of the next challenge.
Charlie Bladon, Raid Pyrenean, June 2010
I just wanted to thank you for a great holiday. It was outstanding for many reasons - the weather was superb (if not a little hot!), the route offered everything (day 3 was just to die for) and the accommodation was spot on (basic, comfortable and lots of good food). I'd only make one suggestion to your instructions - use a compact chainset with an 11/28 cassette or larger! However my biggest thanks go to Nathan and Terry who were just awesome. They made the holiday. I'm sure they worked incredibly hard behind the scenes but looked serene. Their customer service and attention to detail was first rate.
Tobias Read, Raid Pyrenean, June 2010
In short, to say that we all found the trip to be excellent, made all the more so by the organisation that you, Cathy and Alan have put into it. Your approach, humour, overall demeanour and personal approach/style all made for a great mix between the professional, highly organised ride experience that is made to feel genuinely informal and friendly. I know it was also no accident that you guys happened to appear at the right spots on the road/climbs and it was certainly no accident that you always have a full van full of bananas, snacks and home baking!!
David Ryder Leese, Raid Pyrenean, June 2009
May I thank you for such tremendous support last week as I completed the raid. It really was an epic experience and although challenging, will be a holiday I remember for a life-time. Your continuous hard work, smiles and uncanny habit of appearing in the van when most needed were very much appreciated. I would always and wholeheartedly recommend Marmot tours to anyone thinking of such a challenge.
Adam Cunliffe, Raid Pyrenean, June 2009
Thanks for organising such a great trip - you guys have really got it sorted. The vision of seeing a white van when you are absolutely hanging will probably remain with me for the rest of my life! I'm sure we'll be looking to do another trip with you in the future -Get sorting the Raid Alpine!
Tony Silman (Moose), Raid Pyrenean, June 2009

James, I just wanted to say thankyou for the Raid trip last week. It was superbly organised and the support from you and Alan was much appreciated. All in all, couldn't have been run better.
Antony Lee, Raid Pyrenean, June 2009
Thank you for organising a fantastic week's biking - Chris and I thoroughly enjoyed it and your service was nothing short of excellent.
Tim Scott, Les Gets, Raid Pyrenean, June 2009
James and Cathy: Thank you so much for your excellent work in hosting the Raid. The personal, high level of service exceeded expectations from the first email to the last transfer. Your efforts promoted and ensured success. Jack: just being so damn cute was appreciated!
Mark Stranzinger, Calgary, Raid Pyrenean, June 2009
Many thanks for fantastic experience last week (yes, I do mean it!!!). The organisation, support and encouragement, hotels, food and friendliness all made the PAIN worthwhile. There were definitely moments when I thought I had bitten more than I could chew but I had nothing but positive support from yourselves, the peerless Dunfermline club riders, the 'RAF' and Mike (who gave me water and a gel on the corniche before Cerbere). What a fantastic bunch of people to spend time with. Your personalities, knowledge and sense of humour really helped make this a trip to remember and I have no hesitation in recommending you to others thinking of taking on the challenge. Very best wishes for the future with baby and Marmot Tours.

I have to say that your own and Cathy’s support during the event was exceptional – it is difficult to see how either of you could have done more to make the event a success. I have already pointed some cycling friends to your website, and hopefully they’ll be persuaded to give the Raid (or another of your trips) a go.
Ian Condie, Raid Pyrenean, June 2008
I have nothing but praise and thanks for all that you did. The preparation, support, personal touch and interest were way beyond what I expected. I don’t think we could have asked for better support than that which you provided, so thanks ever so much for what was a truly memorable venture. The smoothness of your organisation, sometimes in the face of very difficult circumstances, provided a very powerful foundation for our Raid. It enabled us to concentrate on the event and to have some great times, free of the worry of whether or not you would be there to provide the necessary support and high quality food and accommodation.
Mike Goddard, Raid Pyrenean June 2008
Had a fantastic time thanks in no small part to you guys. No hesitation in singing your praises to anyone vaguely interested in cycling.
Tim Shaw, Raid Pyrenean, June 2008
Many thanks for a great week. It was superbly organized. Food and hotels were spot on and the back up throughout each day was excellent. And, of course, I think we all really appreciated the encouragement as we reached the end of a hard climb. A nice relaxed atmosphere both on and off the bike. I’ll certainly put in a word with my fellow club members." Nick Gurmin, Raid Pyrenean, June 2007
The Raid Pyrenean certainly has to rank amongst the best possible weeks of cycling anywhere in the world. Thanks once again for your personal touch during the week, it was very heart warming for us all to have your support along the way and I was particularly grateful for the effort and care that you so diligently applied to our holiday. You will certainly be my first port of call should I want to (or indeed be capable of!) doing any more biking down that way.
