Cherry Cottage Self Catering Gite
Last Updated on Sunday, 22 April 2012 09:35

Cherry cottage is a charming stone terraced cottage situated in a quiet Pyrenean hamlet (Pech) in the Ariege, a lesser known corner of the Midi Pyrenees. This 2 bedroomed self catering holiday home, with one double room (1 double bed) and one triple room (1 double bed and 1 single bed) is ideally sized for 4 people, but we have also provided a sofa bed in the living room should a further 2 people be visiting.
The gite enjoys stunning views all around and is beautifully peaceful. It has a small garden across the way, with mountain views, a table and chairs and a barbeque for your use.
There is easy parking oppposite the cottage.
The hamlet of Pech is a convenient 5 - 10 minute walk from the larger village of Les Cabannes that hosts a number of amenities including a boulangerie, general store, pharmacy, restaurant, pizzeria and train station with trains to Ax and Toulouse.
The local area is ideal for a host of outdoor activities (particularly walking, road cycling and mountain biking in the summer, or snowshoeing, cross country and downhill skiing in the winter), and it is perfect for couples, friends or a family. There are 2 local open air swimming pools in the nearby villages of Aston and Les Cabannes, that are open during July and August. The Aston swimming pool has a shady area for 'spectators' plus a curly slide into the pool, and a toddlers pool too. If you want to mix some mountain activities with some sightseeing, then you are also perfectly placed to explore the chateaux and grottes locally, as well as visit historic towns of Foix, Carcassonne and the bustling city of Toulouse. See our activities page for more detail on what the local area has to offer.
